This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") lists conduct that gets content removed or accounts terminated. It applies on top of our Terms of Service. We may update it as new patterns of abuse emerge — material changes get a notice in your account.
01
Illegal content & conduct
- Sexual content involving minors. Zero tolerance. Reported to NCMEC and law enforcement.
- Human trafficking, terrorism, or coordination of violence.
- Sale of regulated goods that require licenses you don't hold (alcohol, firearms, prescription drugs, controlled substances).
- Promotion of illegal drug sales or use to minors.
- Money laundering or evasion of US sanctions.
- Fraud, including ticket scams, fake merch, and impersonating bands or venues.
02
Harassment, threats, hate
- Threats of violence — explicit or coded.
- Targeted harassment campaigns against individuals or groups.
- Doxxing — publishing private contact info, home addresses, or workplace details without consent.
- Hate speech targeting people based on race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual content directed at users.
- Stalking or relentless contact after a user has blocked you.
03
Intellectual property
- Posting copyrighted music, video, photos, lyrics, or designs you don't own and don't have license to use. See our DMCA policy for cover-song specifics.
- Selling merch with another band's artwork (or a band's likeness) without authorization.
- Impersonating a band, venue, or brand — including misleading profile names, photos, or claimed history.
- Trademark infringement — using protected brand names, logos, or distinctive elements without permission.
04
Platform abuse
- Automated access — bots, scrapers, spiders — without our written consent.
- Reverse-engineering the product or its APIs.
- Submitting fake votes, fake pledges, fake reviews, or fake door reports.
- Coordinating vote manipulation (e.g., paying a click farm to push a band into a Battle final).
- Multiple accounts to evade bans, manipulate stats, or exceed free-tier limits.
- Spam — repeated unsolicited messages, comment-section flooding, off-topic promotion of unrelated services.
- Phishing or social engineering of other users — including pretending to be Bandwagon support.
05
Commerce-specific rules
- Crowdfund integrity: goals and tiers must reflect what fans actually receive. Bait-and-switch (advertising a soundcheck pass, delivering nothing) gets the campaign refunded and the band suspended.
- Door reports: attendance numbers must be accurate. Bands and venues sign attestation. Persistent discrepancies trigger refund mediation under
/admin → Refund disputes. - Invoicing: invoices must reflect actual events. Fake invoices to launder money or extract platform fees get reversed and accounts terminated.
- Sponsorship placement: brands deliver what they advertised. Venues deliver what brands paid for. Disputes go through the same mediation channel.
- Vendor work: vendors deliver what they quoted. Bands/venues pay what they agreed. Late deliveries or non-payment get logged in the vendor's reputation.
06
Content guidelines
- Explicit content (nudity, graphic violence, profanity) is allowed in band content where artistically relevant, but must be tagged appropriately. Explicit content is not allowed in fan-facing surfaces (feed, comments, reviews) without tagging.
- No CSAM or sexual content involving anyone under 18. Period.
- No revenge porn, deepfakes, or non-consensual intimate imagery.
- Reels and stories must not include third-party copyrighted audio you don't have rights to (this is enforced on review when claims come in).
- Profile photos and band photos must depict the actual artist — not stock photography misrepresented as your own.
07
How we enforce
Depending on severity:
- Content removal — single piece of content taken down.
- Warning — formal notice on your account, no functional change.
- Feature suspension — temporary loss of specific abilities (posting, messaging, crowdfunding) for 1–30 days.
- Full suspension — account locked pending review.
- Permanent termination — account closed, data retained per legal requirements, no return.
- Law enforcement referral — for criminal conduct (CSAM, violent threats, financial fraud, trafficking).
Critical violations skip earlier steps. Repeat-offender pattern accelerates escalation.
If you think enforcement was wrong, appeal to appeals@bandwagon.run within 30 days. Appeals are reviewed by a different person than the original action.
